The Midland Grand hotel opened its doors on the 5th May 1873, and became the grandest of the new railway hotels.
The beautiful Victoria. Building at St Pancras has survived against the odds, being bombed in World War II 3 times in one month and later being the Briyish Rail offices. Despite many attempts for the building to be demolished Sir John Betjeman secured a Grade 1 listing in 1967..
The Channel Euro service in the mid 1990’s brought use back to the station and attention turned to the old dilapidated hotel next door.
The hotel features as the back drop for many films such as Harry Potter, Batmn and Bridget Jones Diary.
The Manhattan loft Corporation supported and advised by English Heritage and later partnered with Marriott International took on one of the most demanding and extensive property restoration projects.
The doors re-opened on the 5th May 2011. The entrance lobby is simply stunning with its vast ceiling and pillars.
